We start at the beginning with style #44, best known as Vans Authentic. Having its first sales in 1966, over time, its design basically hasn’t changed, being only made of a vulcanized rubber outsole and lightweight canvas. Even so, it continues to be one of the brand’s most popular, appealing to both men and women, being able to match with sporty as well as more casual clothes. Nowadays, it’s in different colours, but the bestseller, as you may have guessed, is with the black canvas and the white outsole, very easy to match.

Vans Era

Created to be the first authentic skateboarding sneakers, the original Vans Era appeared for the very first time in 1976. At first glance, they’ve a design very similar to the Vans Authentic sneakers, except regarding the collar, which in this case is padded around the ankle in order to guarantee more safety and stability.

And if you’re asking what the difference between Vans Era and Vans Era 59 is, here’s the answer: Vans Era 59 are reinforced with leather on the heel, most of the time in a different colour than the canvas. Now you know! 😉

Vans Old Skool

This is the so-called style #36 that debuted in 1978, but of course you must know it best as Old Skool. It was created at a time when the brand was looking for a symbol that identify it, such as Nike has its Swoosh, and it was then that appeared the side wavy stripe that you’ve probably already seen multiple times, originally called Jazz Stripe, which continues to this day.

Vans Slip-On

These sneakers appeared for the first time in 1977 as the shoes that could be used by both surfers and skates. Without the hassle of tying the shoelaces, they could be easily worn after surfing and before riding your skateboard. And this, of course, is due to their small elastic accents, one on each side of the instep, which adjust perfectly to your walk. Now this model comes in different colours and prints, and continues to be one of the most famous models of this Californian brand.

Perhaps after reading this post, what we did was making your decision of only choosing one model even more difficult. Simply speaking, Vans created too many innovative and practical designs over the last 50 years to choose only one. Maybe what Vans should do is change its slogan from “Off the Wall” to “Gotta Catch ‘Em All”. 😛
