It’s true! The Lazuli brand received on 31 July last the prestigious GAPI award for Revelation Brand during the 12th edition of the Innovation and Design Awards in the Footwear Industry 2014, in Dusseldorf, Germany. Below, you can see a picture with the winners. Can you guess who was representing Lazuli, by just looking at their shoes?
Considered to be the Oscars in the footwear world, the GAPI awards are a joint initiative between the CTCP – Portuguese Footwear Technological Centre and the INPI – National Institute of Industrial Property. In turn, the GAPI abbreviation stands for Office of Support and Promotion of Industrial Property (Gabinete de Apoio à Promoção da Propriedade Industrial), belonging to the CTCP, and they are awards promoted annually since 2003, distinguishing many footwear companies as the best in Portugal. And certainly Lazuli is a brand that fits in that description.
And it is very well possible to see how Lazuli was considered to be the best revelation of this year. Just by seeing some of its models, you realize the originality and creativity involved in each one of their designs. With materials that offer style, but also comfort for your feet, a unique and bold combination of colours and even an exceptional dedication and attention to detail, it is difficult to believe that the brand is not even one year old.
And, of course, it is impossible to mention Lazuli without also mentioning the predominance of blue in all its models, inspired by the Portuguese tiles that are already part of our national tradition and history. But there is more, since Lazuli also makes a point of including in its products a small and subtle tile, which is part of the brand’s own identity, but is also a beautiful homage to this so important and significant cultural object.
