Ria Menorca – Menorquinas with my personal touch!

Ria Menorca – Menorquinas with my personal touch!

Approximately one month ago, I bought a pair of Ria Menorca menorquinas at EscapeShoes. Since I love arts and crafts, I decided to personalize them. It was simply necessary a permanent marker and a bit of patience. Are you curious to know more details? Then, click and find out!

On today’s post, I’m going to explain how I came up with a plan to make my Ria Menorca completely exclusive. Below, I tell you about this process with all kinds of details, from my very first ideas to the final result. Ah! Of course, I bought my menorquinas at EscapeShoes.

I have to say that I’m in love with my new Ria Menorca! When they arrived at EscapeShoes, I knew, sooner or later, one of the models would be mine. Why? In addition to their really accessible price, I only needed to have them for the very first time in my hands to realize of the quality of their materials and of their finishes.

Among the variety of models that this Spanish brand offers you, I decided to choose one of the simplest ones, without neither glitter nor metallized colours. The truth is that, at first, I had in mind to buy the Velvet Leather, in brown. However, the white sandals also really caught my eye and… at the end… these Buffalo White became the number 1 candidates!

From the start, I thought that I wanted to make a hand drawing so that it was the most personal possible. Like I already mentioned in previous posts, my style is a little bit hippie. This detail justifies why I chose this type of drawings. They remind me of the Arabic drawings that are used to decorate with henna different body parts, mostly, the hands and feet.

My initial intention was to use a thin brush, so that I could make the small details with the greatest precision, and to buy a paint bottle for leathers. However, when I went to the specialized store, they informed me of another option that seemed great: a permanent marker with a thin tip! Brown was the colour that adjusted the most to the intention that I wanted my sandals to evoke. Together with white, I would be able to match them with all my clothes!

So, when I arrived home, I couldn’t wait any longer to get to work. I looked for inspiration at some pictures of henna drawings that I found on the internet. After seeing several images, I created an idea in my head of how my own drawing could be. With this help and a little bit of imagination and improvisation, I started to create my sketch. I dared myself to do it with a pencil and directly on the menorquinas themselves.

Before, I didn’t tell you about another aspect that characterizes my way of being, and it is my trend to prefer asymmetric things. Now, you can better understand why the right and the left foot have different drawings, also located in distinctive parts of the leather. 😀

After sketching a basic drawing, I picked up the marker and started to go over the pencil drawing and add new smaller details.

The truth is that the ink of the marker would dry very quickly than what I expected. This allowed me to analyse my work, without the danger of ruining the part that I had just finished painting. And here comes the final result:

On that same day, I had a party where all the guests had to wear white. It was the perfect time to match them with my dress in the same colour! However, after that, I always had occasions where I could wear them. In my day-to-day, to walk around town, at work… any time is great to use these really comfortable shoes!

We already explained many times how malleable and durable they are, how surprising their non-sticky sole is and the functionality of their back strap. These three factors are evident from the very first moment you wear them. The best of all is that it only took a few hours for them to adapt to the shape of my feet, which ensures that I feel more comfortable with them. They are my first option each time I go outside! Well… the truth is that I don’t even take them off when I’m at home!

Would you dare yourself to do the same thing to your menorquinas? What other ways can you think of to decorate them? Wait! You still don’t have your Ria Menorca? Then, place your online order now at EscapeShoes and tell us your ideas to continue with our arts and crafts.
