We’ve already talked about this in a previous post about the clogs’ origins, but this is a type of shoe that has systematically gained more fame season after season. Before, the were shoes more associated to the life in the countryside, but now they appear on the runways at the hand of some of the best well-known fashion brands in the world, like Chanel and Gucci.

However, there are still many people that hesitate to buy clogs because, while having still in mind those traditional shoes used mainly for agriculture, they can’t picture the possibilities that they might have in the day-to-day, by matching them with their personal style. That’s why today on the EscapeShoes blog, we’ll show you some ideas on how this summer you can match those clogs that you’ve always wanted to buy but never had the courage to do so!

But first you have to take out of your head that pre-conceived idea of those boring clogs, low and completely made of wood. Nowadays, clogs have evolved to much more than that! For example, Portuguese brand Xuz always based its collections on the clogs of the old days, but at the same time while giving them a new life, by adding different and original details, like elastic bands, feathers, studs, medals and much more. And it doesn’t only make low clogs, but also have clogs with distinctive types of heel, from the low heel, going through the mid-heel and up to the thinner or the widest high heel.

It’s with this idea of different heels in mind that we’ll show you the next outfits, starting with the most traditional low clogs:

Clogs started to gain more recognition in the fashion world in the 70s, being matched with flares, more flowing shirts and several accessories, such as rings, necklaces, bracelets and headbands. So, if you like a more bohemian style, this is a good option! And they also look great with long printed dresses.

If otherwise you prefer a more feminine and elegant look, wide shorts or a short skirt also look great with your clogs. On the other hand, you can also match them with more casual clothes, for example a pair of trousers or leggings and a simple t-shirt.

However, if you’re one of those people that appreciate having a little bit of height, look at these outfits with high heeled clogs:

If what you want is to seem taller than what you actually are, there’s no better way than by using a short dress or shorts with a pair high heeled clogs. Try using your high heeled clogs with a denim skirt, short dress or even dungarees, for a more rustic and country style.
